Brenda Power passed away last week having suffered a sudden heart attack in her home in Codsall.
Brenda, a hard working and dedicated member of the Wheelers for around 70 years will be missed by not only her fellow club members but cyclists far and wide. Many of those who rode the Wheelers races, whether it was road, track or cyclo-cross would have had their finishing position meticulously recorded by Brenda as these were the days before any transponders etc.
Brenda would be there in all weathers all year round giving freely of her time and energy in support of cycling and those who enjoyed it.
Brenda was equally as supportive of all the club’s social activities and contributed some magnificent cakes, decorated in exquisite detail, looking almost too good to eat…. Almost.
She and her late husband Alan Power were vice presidents of the Wheelers having devoted a lifetime of support to the club. This joyous couple added greatly to anybody who knew them and they will live long in the memories of those of us left to mourn the passing of an era.
Friends and fellow Wheelers will no doubt be celebrating a life well lived next Thursday 11.30 am on the 16th November, the service to be held at Telford Crematorium and following that at the Crown public house in Codsall.
