Stan and Betty Kite devoted a lifetime to cycling providing support not only to the Wheelers, but later in life to the growing domestic Professional scene. Stan would pack not only Betty, his son Neil and daughter Louise into a Morris Minor Traveller but also another young Wheeler and two or three bikes! All on their way to a race many miles away.
Stan was secretary to the P.C. A. (Professional Cycling Association – now defunct) which provided the foundation stone for many aspiring stars. He was awarded British Cycling’s Gold Badge of Honour for services to cycling. They first presented this trophy in 1965.
