I’m delighted to be able to bring to your attention three racing events for young riders that we’re promoting this year. It would be great to see as many competitors in Yellow & Black shirts as possible.
The first is the Mayday grass track racing which forms part of the fun day at Rowheath Pavilion 6th May. Riders aged 5 – 12 will compete in fast paced racing over three laps on a tight grass track circuit. This is a great opportunity for us to promote our sport to the local community. We’ve got a slot from 2pm to 3pm in a full programme of community events.
On Thursday July 25th from 4pm to 7pm, again at Rowheath we’re hosting the British Schools’ Cycling Association Regional Grass Track Championships. Young riders will compete in age specific omnium competition for the coveted regional title which brings with it a medal and a patch which can be proudly sported on a race jersey. You may recall that Bromsgrove Olympique used to host this event at Catshill Meadow and I thought it was time for a revival.
Finally Tuesday August 27th sees the return of our summer cross event. Racing will take place between 1 and 4 pm. This time we’ve moved the event to Holders Lane so that riders can compete in an exciting course that takes in a range of slopes and surfaces. It is designed as a pre-season ‘give it a try’ event so that riders thinking about the league can see how they get on. Equally, experienced riders will find it a useful way to test out legs & equipment before the season starts in earnest.
Full details of the events appear on the academy facebook page where updates will be posted. https://www.facebook.com/pg/BeaconCyclingAcademy/events/
