October`s virtual meeting was held yesterday and well attended again which went well into the evening, so firstly I would like to thank the committee that were put through three virtual sessions with much to discuss and even missed the England football match in the process, although on all accounts we didn’t miss much. Next month finally back around the table.
Paul Wedge confirmed our finances are good and in order and Debbie Lewis, our Membership Secretary, informed us that our membership has increased again and we had brief reports from Matt Cullis and Shaun Mason who informed us that we have had 33 sessions at the track with 365 riders booked throughout September so a really busy and active month. Also Mark Primmer reported along with Ros Clitheroe reporting kit sales are going well with the Club Portal opening and a closing date to be announced for those wishing to order kit in time for Christmas.
Lucy McNeil-Briggs our social secretary is organising a Halloween evening on 22nd October for the children’s session and we have agreed to have the awards and Trophies presentation evening during February once the cycle cross season has been concluded.
We are now preparing for the AGM which will be held at Fordhouses Cricket Club on Thursday 25th November. Committee positions will become available although we will be looking to appoint a new secretary and also Treasurer, as after 30 years in the role, Paul decided a few months ago to retire from his position as Secretary and Treasurer pro tem at the end of this financial year.
The club is always looking for members to get involved with the running of our great club so if anyone is interested in joining the committee please get in touch with me.
At the AGM we will be reorganising the committee to allow us to appoint two new replacements which will lead to creating a couple of new openings on the committee, so if anyone would like to propose, nominate or stand for election even as an ordinary member to get a taste of the committee, once again please contact me.
After months of talking we have finally decided as a committee that we will be proposing at the AGM an amendment to the constitution, in order to modernise and broaden the club by offering second claim membership to riders, subject to the quorum being met and vote for approval as per the constitution.
Announcement of the proposed changes will be notified to the club membership prior to the AGM, so we will be looking to get as many members to the evening to allow a vote and hopefully acceptance.
Looking forward, a sub-committee will be organised by Matt Cullis to include Race Secretary`s and other committee members to discuss the next years calendar events covering Track, Road, Cross and TT`s to make sure everything is programmed for 2022 including reliability rides and events that we want to organise around the time of the Commonwealth Games.
Much is happening and I would like to thank all the coaches and officials who are giving up valuable time to keep the club moving in the right direction. It’s also been wonderful to see so many taking part at events and sessions and that we have seen many of our former world and National champions as well as current champions giving time to the youngsters at the track.
Ride safely and always show consideration.
