This is believed to have been presented by the wife of Benny Whitmore and first awarded to Geoff Shaw in 1966.
Benny and his brother ‘Dickie’ Whitmore were very good racing cyclists in the 1940’s. In his later years Benny Whitmore put a lot of time and effort into training young club members many of whom went on to achieve considerable success, including at least four National Schoolboy Cyclo-Cross Champions! All thanks to Benny.
