Senior B Focus
This evening Senior A and B raced together which gave an extra edge to the B riders racing but in the Elimination event the A riders proved too strong to hold back. All B riders were eliminated with six laps to go except for two female riders: Elodie Gage skilfully hung on to that point and Grace Lister just missed out on the final sprint lap. A rider Seb Bacon took the win with Jake White second and Giulio Cervi third. The 3 Lap Dash saw Giulio make his break in the last lap and then take the win. B rider Simon Orme gave chase to take second place. This is Simon’s second year in our League and he is a member of Rugeley based Brereton Wheelers which this year celebrate their seventieth anniversary. Grace Lister took third place with Elodie Gage fourth, fifth and sixth places went to B riders competing in the League for their first time: Mahyar Abbott and Zak White. Zak’s brother Jake is an A rider and as many Wheelers know they both have a background in cycle speedway.
The Unknown Distance event provided more entertainment for the crowd as it contained two additional sprints within the race. Amelia Southall took the first sprint with grace Lister taking the second. Overall win went to Jake White. The 22 Lap Handicap proved to be a more open event than usual so this too added an extra element to the racing. Senior B riders were well organised and worked together to great effect meaning that the A riders were unable to catch them before the Intermediate Sprint. Simon Orme was over the line first followed by a well deserved second place for Will Perry, Grace Lister was third followed by Alex Ward, Will Farmer and Zak White. Grace was determined to keep up the pressure after the sprint and she was helped by Tom White and Will Farmer and there was only six laps to go before Jake White and Giulio Cirvi were able to pass them. On the line it was Jake first, Giulio second and a powerful sprint by Will Farmer to take third place. Then it was Grace Lister, Tom White and Alex Ward in that order to complete another excellent night of racing at Aldersley Stadium.
